Grace, mercy, and peace to you!
1 Timothy 1:2
Everything we have comes from God. As God’s grateful people, we celebrate Gods gifts to us and ours to Him .
Deciding what gifts you can bring to God’s work here on earth through St. Tim’s ministries is a prayerful and thoughtful process.
* What importance do I place on this religious community and the gifts it gives to me through worship and service?
* What are the needs I see within our community and the world that need God’s touch?
* As one of God’s grateful people, how will I respond?
Below are some examples of ways to give that may help us all give more thoughtfully and generously as God calls us to do.
Giving in your twenties, thirties and beyond
For young couples and families, as well as individuals at all stages of life, automatic monthly giving through your bank account or credit card can help you budget your support over the whole year in equal payments.
This process is made easier with the We Are St. Tim's mobile app. Click here to learn more about the app and how you can download it to your mobile device to make online giving faster and more convenient.
This process allows us to stop, pause, and prayerfully consider the important place St. Tim’s plays in our lives and what our gift should be. Go to the donate button on this website to walk through the easy process online, or call us for help at 763.784.1329.
Giving in your middle years and beyond
Current tax laws may reduce the opportunity to receive a tax break from your gifts to St. Tim’s and other charities you want to support. You may be able to bundle gifts into one year to reach the new deduction level and then establish an every-other-year schedule for your gifts to St. Tim’s. Moreover, creating a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) at a community foundation like Catholic Community Foundation may allow you to take immediate tax deduction and manage all your philanthropy more thoughtfully. Cash, securities, or other assets can be placed in the fund. You can then make a gift to St. Tim's directly from that fund. Click here for more information about DAFs. Always consult those professionals who provide you with sound financial advice about this and other giving strategies.
In addition, you may be able to avoid capital gains taxes when you make a gift of stock directly to St. Tim’s. To make a gift of stock to St. Tim’s, contact Cathy Sullivan, Director of Finance and Administration, at 763.784.1329.
As we reflect on our years at St. Tim’s
Starting at age 70 ½ you are able to make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA directly to St. Tim’s and avoid federal and state taxes on that amount. In addition, a required minimum distribution (RMD) from your IRA now begins at age 73. Designating all or a portion of your RMD directly to St. Tim’s will enable you to avoid federal and state taxes on that amount also. Click here to learn about making a QCD through your IRA. Please consult your financial advisor for more information.
There are also ways to express our love for God and His work through the Church of St. Tim’s well into the future. That is through thoughtful consideration of how our worldly possessions will be ultimately shared. A planned gift to St. Tim’s provides a meaningful way. The three major types of planned gifts are:
