August 2024 update: planning your marriage at the church of st. timothy
A sacramental marriage celebrated at the Catholic Church of St. Timothy consecrates a man and woman through their vows to God and each other to live a life together that is faith-filled, permanent, faithful, open to life, and life-giving. A covenant is established between the couple and God. Sacramental marriage is a significant step that joins you with other married couples in bringing the Good News and the love of Jesus to the world.
Acknowledging that quality relationship-building takes time and effort, a period of preparation is established for pre-marriage couples to help strengthen and adjust to the new realities in family lifestyles, planning, goal setting, and spirituality. Every couple wishing to marry attends a pre-marriage retreat weekend along with several face-to-face sessions utilizing the Prepare Inventory tool with one of our mentor couples.
Couples should begin marriage preparation at least ten months to one year before their wedding.
So, you are engaged to be married - congratulations! The Catholic Church of St. Timothy is here to help, answer your questions, and guide you through a useful preparation process. All done to help you celebrate this very important grace-filled day, with integrity, along with your family and friends. Couples are requested to contact the parish at least ten months, and preferably one year, in advance of their anticipated wedding to begin the steps in the process of marriage preparation. Please do not send out your “save the date” announcement or arrange your wedding date with reception halls, etc prior to this first meeting. We are inviting happily married couples to join our marriage ministry as a mentor couple. Please contact Deacon Joe at the parish office for information on training, etc.
Other Marriage Related IssuesOur parish staff is also ready to assist persons with any other marriage-related issues such as validations (blessing) for a previous marriage outside the Church, significant marriage anniversary celebrations (25th, 50th, etc), or annulments.
