PENTECOST
THOUGHTS IN A ROW
|
 |
This weekend we celebrate PENTECOST. It is one of the three most important feast days of the Church year. (Can you name the other two?) This feast of the Holy Spirit completes the fifty days of celebrating Easter. On this day
the Apostles were so energized by the Spirit that they could bravely take on the dangerous task of revealing the
Good News to all nations. They were filled with the same gifts of the Spirit that we receive in the Sacraments:
WISDOM, UNDERSTANDING, COUNSEL, KNOWLEDGE, FORTITUDE, PIETY, AND AWE
(FEAR OF THE LORD). As we celebrate this birthday of the Church, it is fitting that we not only remember the gifts
we have received, but also share the gift of ourselves in return.
There are many other activities happening at the Masses as well this weekend. At all the Masses we will be
BLESSING OUR GRADUATES from high school and college. We want them to be
assured of our support for them as they make this transition in their lives. At the
10:30 AM Mass, we will be awarding the FR. GEORGE KOLATH SCHOLARSHIPS to deserving seniors who will
be using them at the college of their choice.
We extend our best wishes to EILEEN KYTONEN who is retiring after almost 32 years of service to St. Tim’s. Eileen
has worked in our office as bulletin editor, along with responsibility for a variety of other administrative duties.
We will miss her organizational skills and pleasant spirit as she looks to spending more time with her grandchildren — and holding a lucky fishing pole! A reception is being held for Eileen this Sunday, May 19 between the 8:30 and
10:30 AM Masses in Room 224 of the Parish Center. Come and thank her for her service to our parish.
