Elementary School Youth
Grades 1-5
To provide faith formation continuity throughout the school year, children in grades 1-5 attend 21 sessions on various Tuesday evenings from September through March. Classes are held for an hour and 15 minutes in the Parish Center. Parents have the option of signing up their child for either the 5:15-6:30 PM session or the 7:00-8:15 PM session. These classes are taught by parents and other parishioners who volunteer their time to help the children grow in faith. Teachers, subs, aides, office helpers, and nursery volunteers are needed. Volunteer teachers do not need to know everything there is to know about faith. All that is needed is the willingness to be a "learner among learners" and to let God teach you as you share the faith you do have with your students! Those who teach may waive the registration fee for one child.
Please note: These classes are NOT considered sacramental preparation for First Communion or First Reconciliation. Children who are of age for these sacraments should be signed up for both Grades 1-5 Tuesday classes AND the specific sacramental preparation.

First Reconciliation
(also known as Confession or Penance)
Parents prepare their children (Grade 2 or older) for First Reconciliation using resources provided by the parish. Parents are required to attend the parent session to obtain materials, share necessary information and to obtain adult education updates on faith and sacraments. The preparation process also includes parents sharing six lessons of instruction with their children from September 19 through November 5 and attending two sessions with their children to enhance and reinforce what they have been taught. Generally, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated in second grade, if parents feel the child is ready to prepare for this sacrament.
Children must also be enrolled in the regular grade level Faith Formation religion classes on Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
A group Reconciliation service will be held for the children and their families in November (Grade 2) and February (Grade 4).
